PCS was lucky to have Alyssa Satin Capucilli, the Biscuit Books author, visit Plymouth Center School last week. In preparation for her visit, students have done a bunch of amazing activities linked to her books from reading to a therapy dog, Remy, to the

Superstar Reading Incentive where students logged reading minutes for four weeks and students with the most minutes read at home received paw prizes and the classroom with the most minutes read in each grade were recognized with a Superstar Readers Book poster on their door. As a school, students read 67,700 minutes over the four week period!

Students also did activities tied to many of the books, such as Biscuit Visits the Big City and taking a virtual field trip to NYC and created small cities in Maker's Space, Biscuit Loves the Library and making fleece blankets for the animals at the Animal Rescue Foundation in Plymouth, and Time to Paint Biscuit, creating beautiful works of art with landscapes out of multiple mediums and mimicking parades with pop out balloon characters. In science, they read Biscuit Plants a Garden and are planting different things from beans to flowers across the grade levels and learning about what plants need to grow and thrive.

We also hosted a Pajama Day where students read Biscuit Goes Camping in their classrooms and they built forts and did flashlight reading during the day. We raised over $300 to donate to the Animal Rescue Foundation in Plymouth.

Overall, it was an amazing experience for PCS and a special thank you to Cory Mazon, our Literacy Coach, who coordinated it all, and our PTA who helped to fund it!

PCS is proud to celebrate our May Bucket Fillers!  Our Bucket Fillers are students who are role models in showing respect, being kind, and having empathy.  Students work hard to illustrate these traits throughout the month and are selected by being an outstanding role model in their class in each of these areas.  Congratulations to all of our Bucket Fillers!
